    any chance the inner race was set too deep in the hub? could you just put a spacer behind the inner bearing on the spindle? as long as the seal still rode on the spindle

    On a seperate note, when i ran '34 ford wire wheels on my 48 drums, i had to run 1 1/8 spacers between the rim and the drum. the rims were ment to fit over the original drums, but the later drums are bigger.

    Ground off the lip on the wire wheel spacers and fitted them onto the hub.
    Works like a charm.

    Seems like a much better fix than wrapping a beer can around a tapered spindle
